Lansing Regional
This weekend was all about driver. Experience or good coaching could have been a real benefit to a lot of drivers. This track is small and can drastically loose grip very quickly. Drivers need to stay extremely low in the corners and truly know when to be aggressive with the car. If the track goes slick the kids must drive the car to the limit of spinning out. When the track has grip they need to stay smooth and straight.
It is the opposite of what most people would think. There is a fine line between aggressive and over driving the car. If your driver over drives the car their lap times and performance will deteriorate quickly. This is where experience is an advantage. If a driver is not aggressive enough with the car at a track like this, they will carry no momentum. Momentum is the key to over all speed. The driver cannot pamper the car but they cannot drive it off the racetrack either. That's the fine line.
Watch the experienced drivers and learn.
